Pastor's Desk: 2nd Sunday of Easter

Posted 18th April 2009 in Pastor's Desk

On Saturday evening last we celebrated the Easter Vigil Mass - where we proclaimed The Risen Christ as our Saviour. It was a sacred and solemn Concelebrated Mass, presided over by Fr. Eoin and very much enhanced by our Folk Group, Readers, Eucharistic Minister, Altar Servers, Sisters Margaret and Mary, and their team of committed workers who prepared our Church so beautifully for our Easter Masses.

With a Baptism and a Confirmation as part of our Mass, there was no doubt a real sense of community and a strong witness to the faith in our Parish that holy night, which was also in real evidence right throughout the Easter Triduum. God is very much alive in Holy Trinity!

This morning on Sky News they were speaking about the Hillsborough disaster where 96 Liverpool supporters so sadly lost their lives twenty years ago. Let us pray for those souls who are resting with God and remember their families, praying that God’s peace will bring them comfort - for they shall never walk alone.

On a more humourous note, congrats to the Dubs on beating Westmeath in last Sunday’s league match, as I was reminded by some parishioners! Perhaps the Westmeath boys felt sorry for your recent run of bad results. As the Championship gets ever closer, the very best of luck under your new regime.

Fr. Eoin will be back at his desk next week. Every blessing and good wish for the week ahead as we go forward under the guidance and protection of our Risen Lord.

Fr. Gary
