Advent e-Good News online: The Office of Evangelisation currently has a number of recent updates to its website - www.yearofevangelisation.ie

  1. An Advent e-Good News is now available with reflections on the Sunday Gospels of December,
  2. Ideas and suggestions for reading on St. Matthew’s Gospel
  3. Details about Certificates on the Gospel of Luke Art competition that was held in schools recently.

One of the concluding events for the Year of Evangelisation was the Gospel of Luke art-competition that was held in schools throughout the Diocese. Prizewinning certificates are available for all winning entries and are available from Mary Dent at the Office of Evangelisation at evangelisation@dublindiocese.ie.

An Advent Service of Lessons and Carols: with the participation of the students of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Rathmines will take place on Tues. 7th Dec at 7.30pm in the Church of Our Lady, Refuge of Sinners, Rathmines. This promises to be a choral delight and a joyful celebration of Advent hope. Admission is free, but a retiring collection will be taken up in aid of the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Spirit Radio is Launching in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford on January 27 2011. Spirit Radio will play the best contemporary Christian music plus a selection of positive hits. Presenters will highlight stories that show how ‘faith in God’ makes a real difference. Spirit’s news and talk will get Christian voices speaking to the issues of the day. Postponed: Concert of Advent Choral Music with Tallaght Choral Society: Due to the adverse weather, the evening of Advent Choral Music with Tallaght Choral Society scheduled for Friday, 3rd December in St. Aengus’s Church (Balrothery), Tallaght has been postponed and will now take place on the new date of Friday, 17th December at 8.00p.m

Postponed: Music of Advent by Tim Thurston: Due to the weather, the Introduction to the Music of Advent by Tim Thurston, of Gloria fame on Lyric FM will not take place on Wednesday, 1st December but will take place on Wednesday, 8th December at 8.00p.m. in St. Fergal’s Church, Bray.

Masses in Irish: Information regarding the Christmas night Masses in Irish which will be celebrated in the Dublin Archdiocese on Christmas Eve this year can be viewed on www.dublindiocese.ie

Christmas Carol Service: In St. John the Evangelist Church, Ballinteer, Dublin 16 - Sunday December 12th at 3.30pm. A traditional service of Christmas carols will take place on Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, featuring four choirs and 150 voices.

Inchicore-Bluebell Pastoral Area: Anointing of the Sick: Mary Immaculate, Saturday 4th December, 12 noon. Carol Service: Our Lady of the Wayside, Bluebell, Sunday 12th December, 6pm (all local choirs and James’s Brass & Reed Band).
