Walk to raise funds to control and cure arthritis: Arthritis Ireland’s sponsored walking challenge Get Your Joints in Motion will take place on May 7th. This is a walk for people with arthritis in aid of the ¾ of a million people with arthritis in Ireland. Aware Email Support Service: Volunteer Opportunity: Aware, the national depression support organisation is seeking new volunteers for its email depression support service and will host an open evening on Tuesday March 1st, at its offices 72 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2 from 5.30 - 7.00 pm. Anyone who feels they may be interested in getting involved in this service or wants to find out more is welcome to attend. Application forms will be available at the drop-in open evening and volunteers for the service will be given full training. An understanding of depression and its impact is essential. Courses at All Hallows: There are currently a number of courses/events taking place at All Hallows that may be of interest to parish personnel and parishioners. These include, Inner Wellbeing - Retreats for Spiritual Care in Busy Lives; Developing Parish Annual Seminar, the seminar is entitled Honesty, Healing & Hope and will run on 28th February and 1st March. Baroness O’Loan will also give a Public Lecture at 7pm on 28th February; Study week in the Burren from the 17th-23rd July; New MA in Ecology and Religion; A series of one day Spring Seminars from 26th March to April 16th. Liturgy of Lament and Repentance: On next Sunday 20th February at 3pm a Liturgy of Lament and Repentance for the sexual abuse of children by priests and religious will be held in St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, within the framework of the Apostolic Visitation of the Archdiocese of Dublin. The liturgy will ask the forgiveness of God and of all survivors for the failure of those Church leaders and many others in the family of the Church to respond with love, integrity, honesty, understanding and compassion to the pain and distress of survivors. During the liturgy which has been prepared principally by survivors, Cardinal Sean O’Malley and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will wash the feet of a group of people who have suffered in various ways through abuse.

Tolka Area Skills Bank, Orientation Workshop: Thursday 17th February 2011 at Tolka Area Partnership, Rosehill House, Finglas, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm. The aim of the workshop is to inform people about the Skills Bank and how community groups within Tolka Area Partnership can avail of our panel of skilled volunteers. This workshop helps you identify the skills that your group needs and the things that you need to bare in mind before you commit to working with a volunteer.
