Pastors Desk: 2nd Sunday of Advent / C

Pastor’s Desk 6th December 2015 - Second Sunday of Advent / C

The long introduction to today’s gospel tells us how the word of God came to John in the wilderness and how he then went to all regions of the Jordan to preach forgiveness of sins.

In this second week of Advent we too are asked to communicate Gods message to others by helping to fill in their valleys and make any rough paths smooth as we journey along the road together.
Like John we are all called to communicate this spirit of love, freedom, hope and peace to others at all times. This season of Advent is a special time for all of us to prepare the way in our lives and ask God to allow us to see more clearly his plan for each one of us.

Our now annual Advent Carol Service will take place this evening. Do make sure to come along. The Church will be open from 4.30pm onwards for those who wish to secure a good seat! This year there will be no schools taking part as each have a carol programme as part of their nativity programme. Our carol service will feature carols sung in harmonies by Holy Trinity Choir and Carols to be sung by the congregation. We will have guest singers and musicians and we would be delighted if you will come help us celebrate this joyful season.
